In Brazil, police have taken control of a large area where many poor people live in Rio de Janeiro. Illegal drug dealers have operated in the areas for many years. Police invaded the Rocinha slum early Sunday morning. It is the largest slum in the city. About 100,000 people live there. It is built on a hill near some of Rio's richest areas. Its location near the center of the city has made it one of Rio's main illegal drug centers.
