VOA Special English News 85

The United States has urged Iran to free an American man sentenced to death on charges of spying for the Central Intelligence Agency. The Obama administration and State Department said the charges against Amir Mirzaei Hekmati are false. Iran's Fars news agency says a court found him guilty of cooperating with a hostile country. In December, the Iranian state television broadcasted a video of Amir Mirzaei Hekmati reportedly admitting guilty to charges. He said he worked at American bases in Iraq and Afghanistan and was given orders to join the Iranian Intelligence Ministry.

The reporter actually says "of" here, but this not correct. It's odd, as it's not a mistake a native speaker would normally make. Either he misspoke or perhaps this is an editing accident.

Thank you for a comment. The usage of "of" in this announcement is very interesting to me.
