VOA Special English News 94

Afghan officials say they are hunting for an Afghan official suspected of killing two American military advisers. Their bodies were found in an office in the Afghan Interior Ministry in Kabul. Officials say a 25-year-old intelligence agent, Abdul Saboor, shot the Americans. Demonstrations continue in Afghanistan to protest the destruction of several copies of the Islamic holy book, Quran, by NATO troops. More than 20 people have died in the demonstrations. The troops burned the books at Bagram Air Base on Tuesday. President Obama and other American officials have apologized for the action. Afghan president Hamid Karzai called for calm on Sunday as protests continued.

My thought/opinion on this issue
I cannot understand what the NATO troops did. It has only made the problem confused.

bikenglishさん, Thank you for sharing this strange story! There must be more to it, don't you think? It's hard to imagine NATO troops doing anything so (literally) inflammatory, especially after the Guantánamo Bay scandal. Interesting that the officials were shot by an intelligence agent, right in a Ministry office! Have to wonder whether the shootings were unrelated to the Quran incident. A few suggestions are below. Great work!

intelligence agent
(He may or may not have been intelligent!)

agent, Abdul Saboor, shot
(Two commas to set off the name)

copies of the Islamic

book, the Quran, by
(Two commas—same rule as above)

Afghan president
(Probably, in this situation, since "Afghan president" is an epithet.)

continued
("called...as protests continued")

Thank you for correcting my English with detailed explanation.

US's officials should give good education to US soldiers.
