Team from city of Tokyo visited a group of very small islands in the Pacific that are claimed by Japan, China and Taiwan. The team of 25 specialists from Tokyo and officials and reporters sailed around the five uninhabited islands in the East China Sea on Sunday. They measured the depth of water near the islands in preparation for building a landing place. Japan's central government did not give the group permission to land on the islands. China criticized the visit. It said that any action by Japan on the islands is illegal and invalid.
