The United States says it expects China and Japan to end their dispute over islands in the East China Sea peacefully. Oabama administration's spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday the United States believes good relations between Japan and China help all countries in the region. He also said the United States dose not have an opinion about the ownership of the islands. Relations between China and Japan have been tense since Japan announced last week it plans to buy some of the disputed islands. The islands are controlled by Japan but claimed by China. They are known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China.
