a close of a plantaion

Today, I took a part in mikan-gari（ミカン狩り） that was an event held by our health care insurance union. It is an annual event for my family in this season.

In recent days, we had collected mikan at the same plantation. But, it says it will end its operation in this season. That is a little bit bad news to us.

"Beginning of the Ultimate Catastrophe of the World"

破損した福島第一原子力発電所で作業している技術者たちは、間もなく新たな活動を始める。4号機の1,500以上の燃料棒は地上から30メートル上にある破損した使用済み燃料プールから取り除かれることになる。

東京電力が原子力発電所を所有している。東京電力がこの作業ができると、信頼すべきではないと批判する者もいる。しかし、東京電力の尾野昌之原子力・立地本部長代理は、作業は慎重に計画されていると主張している。東京電力は4号機が水素爆発で破損したため、4号機を再建しなければならなかった。

東京電力の技術者たちは最初に爆破によるがれきを取り除く。それから、燃料棒を一つ一つ取り除く。彼らは、建物の上に置かれたクレーンを使用する。燃料棒は、お互い接触してはいけないし、壊してもいけない。専門家たちは、何らかの事故は、2011年の3月に起きた爆発の何倍もの爆破を引き起こすと警告している。

村田光平氏は、前駐スイス大使で、反原子力の活動家である。彼は、汚染水の流出を含む、過去30か月のトラブルから、東京電力の実績について疑問を投げかけている。彼は、最悪の事態が起き、技術者たちが引上げなければならなくなったら、それは、彼が言うところの「世界の究極の破壊の始まり」と考えないといけない、と言っている。

資源エネルギー庁は、東京電力だけで安全面で十分責任が取れると言っている。しかし、資源エネルギー庁は東京電力を支援するため、世界中の専門家からアドバイスを求めている。原子力の調査委員は、4号機の燃料を取り除く計画を承認している。作業は、11月に開始し、18か月で終了することになっている。


I had never known this serious news before I saw this VOA's program. It is weird that headlines of Asahi's top page did not tell the story.

”Caroline Kennedy”

Caroline Kennedy will soon be in office as the United States Ambassador to Japan.

I wonder if ambassador to Japan really wants to understand Japan or Japanese when this kind of important people visit to Japan. Because I think that it is important for people who want to understand this country to learn Japanese. But I have never heard this kind of message from them.

It is very difficult for native English speaker to learn Japanese because Japanese language has very different system from English. But I wonder if what they can understand about Japan through interpreters might be "real" Japan.

If they really want to understand Japan and to create better relationship with Japan, theｙ will naturally reach to an idea that they try to learn Japanese.

I hope to hear her words, "I am going to learn Japanese to understand Japan and Japan's people" from Caroline's mouth.

"Robo Sally"

メリーランド州、ローレルにあるジョンホプキンス大学の応用物理学研究所の研究者たちは、新たなヒューマノイド、いわゆる人間型ロボットを開発している。その名前はロボ・サリーである。そのロボットは離れたところからコントロール可能で、人間にとって危険な仕事に使用される。ロボ・サリーは人間のように日本の長い手を持っている。

彼女（サリー）は指を使って、小さなものをつかみ、詳しく調べ、人間の手と同じ事をすることができる。それぞれの指には、小さな２０ポンドの力でつまむことができるモーターが組み込まれていて、操作者の指示のもと爆発物の処理をすることができる。

ロボ・サリーは、タイヤのついた金属の上に載っていて、車輪で移動し、狭い場所に入り、小さなものに乗り上げることができる。マイク・マクローリンは応用物理学研究所の義肢学プログラムの中心の研究者である。それは難しい課題だった。マクローリン氏はロボットの手は、人間の手と同じことするための能力を持つにはたくさんの小さなモーターを持たなければいけないと言っている。それはまた人間のような力を持つことを必要とした。

探査や救助の活動のために、ロボ・サリーは、サリーから遠く離れたところの無線機器を使っている人によって操作されることになる。操作者はまた、ロボットの手を見ることができる特殊なメガネをつけることになる。

マクローリン氏は、この種のロボットは彼のいうところの人間の指の動きが必要とされる「汚く、危険な」状況で使うことができると言っている。マクローリン氏によると技術はまだ十分でないとのことである。彼は、５年以内にとても大きな進歩があるだろうと予測している。

"Koke-chai-mashita" in Tour de Saiki

Yesterday, I took part in a cycle event named "Tour de Saiki". I had entered the B-course that was about 103km bike ride. But, an accident happened on me at the point of 30km away from the start.

I fell down from my bike after losing balance by touching a small step. I felt pain on my right and left shoulder, but continued the ride. Finally, I gave up the complete course and reached the goal after 47km ride after the accident.

Today, I saw a doctor and the X-ray did not show a fracture. But, I have still had pain in my right hand and left shoulder.

Although I was injured in this event, I enjoyed the great marine view and "sushi" that is one of the town's good dishes. I will take part in the next year's event and would like to achieve 103km course at that time.

"Koke-chai-mashita" is a famous phase of a marathon runner named "Hiromi Taniguchi" in the Olympic Game in Baｒceｌona in 1992.

P.S.  October 19, I saw a doctor again. He diagnosed fraction in my left shoulder after he examined a picture took by MRI(magnetic resonance image) system. Now, I cannot bring a heavy thing by my left hand and I have to be in a calm life for a while.

風車が彼の牧場の価値を下げるのではないかと心配しています。移民について、

論争があるにもかかわらず、外国人投資家のプログラムは、議会で多くの支持を

集めています。また、そのプログラムを恒久的なものにする動きもあります。




I have learned about "EB-5 regional centers" in the USA on the VOA's program today. If I win 100,000, 000 yen in the public lottery, I would invest it.

Cycle Tour Kitakyushu 2013

Today, I took part in "Cycle Tour Kitakyushu 2013" that was held in the city of Kitakyushu. This time, I had no a partner who run with me although my daughter did at the last year's event. 

I found a group of Koreans in the many participants. I wrote about Koreans who took part in the last year's event.

I had entered "Challenge Course" that is about 50km bike ride. But, I had a little bit complaint about the course because it makes up almost city roads that force us often to stop at signals.

It was good and hot weather that left "comfortable" tiredness to me.

Family Trip 2013

Matsue-city and Izumo Taisha

I had visited Matsue-city（松江市） and IzumoTaisha（出雲大社） shrine in Shimane Prefecture on September 22 - 23 with my family. 

The first day, we arrived at Matsue-city after about five hours train-trip. We had a lunch at a Soba（蕎麦） noodle restaurant because it is a representative food of the area. After  that, we went to Lafcadio Hearn's（ラフカディオ・ハーン（日本名）小泉八雲） former residence and the Matue-Jyo（松江城） castle. When we went up to the top of the castle, I could feel a comfortable wind there.

We stayed an accommodation in the Tamatsukuri-Onsen（玉造温泉） at the night. We enjoyed the luxurious diner and its Onsen.

The second day, we went to Izumo Tisha shrine about 1.5 hour away by a bus which only one crew operated. He drove the bus, explaining the sight seeing area by himself. He also collected a fee of passengers. He was a little bit old man, but a good worker, I think.

Izumo Taisha was a good shrine with dignity. I prayed good future of our family there.

We decided to leave there before lunch time because of the concern about traffic jam and slight tiredness by hot weather.

We had a short stop at an old train station that was used as the JR's station by 1990. It remains its style in which it was built in Taisho era.

After we took a desert at a cafe near the JR Izumo-Shi station（出雲市駅） and bought some souvenirs at the station, we left the Shimane Prefcture.

  

A traffic accident

On August 27, my wife was injured from a traffic accident. Fortunately, her injury was not serious, but she had to stay at a hosptal for three days after an operation that got rid of pieces of glasses in her arm. Now, she has returned to normal condition.

Her car, "Mitsubishi Ai"（三菱アイ）,　turned over and lied on its side when another car collided with it. It had very serious damage from the accident. The reason we think is that the car is "Kei"（軽） that is a small car with less than a 660 cc displacement engine. So we decided to buy a bigger car than "Ai".

The cost to repair it is higher than the present price of it so the negotiation for the accident has to be on the price.

Yesterday, we ordered a new car, "Honda Fit" at a car shop. It will come to us at the end of October.

kindle fire HD

Several days ago, I bought kindle fire HD. The device works well, so I like it very much.

Its main use is to see web sites for me, and play games for my daughter.

I  am sorry that I have no chance to use the kindle's old version that I bought about three years ago.
